Sun Systems has developed a simple RS232 application free for downloading that can be used as a tool for local program editing and storage as well as simple temperature charting. It can be used with all of our environmental chambers, process controllers and temperature controllers. The source code (written in Visual Basic 6.0) is available as well for those interested in creating custom RS232 applications for their Sun chamber or process controller.
All that is required to run the application is a PC running Windows 9x, NT, 2000 or XP, an available RS232 port and an RS232 cable (available for purchase from Sun).
For users with PC's that do not have an RS232 port, a serial to ethernet device (purchased separately) can be used to connect Sun products to an existing network.
Also available for download, is a GPIB application capable of communicating and controlling multiple chambers/controllers. The TC10 GPIBDemo (for our EC1X, EC127, EC1.3W, PC1000, PC100, PC100-2 and TC02) will allow the user to create, edit, upload, download and save to disk local programs. The application can periodically poll the chamber/controller for temperature, set point data etc. This data can then be charted using this application and saved onto the user's PC for analyses, charting etc. with the software of their choice.
